Google Ads campaign type naming changes
Effective Date  February 23, 2021. 

What's changing


On the Effective Date, Google Ads is changing campaign type names in engagements (clicks and impressions.) Conversions (installs) and their subsequent events and sessions are attributed to the name in use at the engagement time. 

These changes impact data display in dashboards, analytics, reports, and raw data.

Campaign type names populate the channel field


What's staying the same
  • No change is required to settings or integrations.
  • If the engagement occurred before the Effective Date: Attributions (installs) and their subsequent sessions and in-app events use the current name.

If you consume raw or analytics data, take the name changes listed into consideration.
