Data storage residency lets you choose the region where an app's data is stored. Each app is set separately, and the choice is permanent after you save it.
About data storage residency
Data storage residency sets where an app's data is stored. By default, app data is stored in Europe.
If your account has data storage residency, you can select a different region for each app in App Settings. The available regions are Europe (default) and South Korea. India is coming later.
Data storage residency isn't self-serve. The Data storage residency field appears in App Settings only for accounts that purchased it, and only admins can set it. To ask about access, contact your CSM or sales contact at hello@appsflyer.com.
Select a data storage region for an app
Prerequisites
- Your account has data storage residency.
- You're an admin.
To select a data storage region for an app:
- Go to Settings > App settings, and select the app.
- Scroll to Advanced settings. The Data storage residency field is the last field, after Change app name. The field is locked and shows the current region. The default is Europe.
- Click Change data storage residency next to the field. A dialog box opens.
- In the dialog box, open the Data storage residency dropdown, and select the region you want.
- Read the message in the dialog box: "Changing the data storage residency is permanent and cannot be reverted once saved on the App Settings page. You're responsible for ensuring this residency complies with your agreements and any applicable data-transfer or residency restrictions."
- Select the checkbox: "I confirm that I am authorized to act on behalf of the legal entity that owns, manages, or controls this account, and that this entity authorizes the change." The Apply button is disabled until you select the checkbox.
- Click Apply.
- Read the banner at the top of the page that reminds you the change is permanent.
- Click Save changes.
This change is permanent. After you save, you can't change or revert the region in App Settings. You're responsible for making sure that the region you select complies with your agreements and any applicable data transfer or residency restrictions. If you have questions about your obligations, speak to your own legal team.
What happens after you save
After you save, the Data storage residency field is locked for that app. When you hover over the field, a tooltip says: "You've already changed this setting once. Contact support if you need to change it again."
Historical data is kept.
There is no way to change or revert the region in App Settings. To change or revert it, contact Support.
Your responsibilities
When you select the checkbox in the dialog box, you confirm that you are authorized to act on behalf of the legal entity that owns, manages, or controls this account, and that this entity authorizes the change.
You're also responsible for making sure that the region you select complies with your agreements and any applicable data transfer or residency restrictions. Your agreements might restrict where your data can be stored or transferred. For legal questions, speak to your own legal team and your CSM.
