About Val anti-fraud assistant

Val is a data intelligence capability in Protect360 that automatically analyzes recent traffic patterns to uncover potential fraud risks. It delivers weekly insights that highlight trends, recommend actions, and provide benchmark comparisons to help reduce fraud, strengthen security, and optimize performance.

With Val, advertisers can:

  • Investigate fraud spikes across networks.
  • Detect legacy or vulnerable SDK versions.
  • Improve fraud validation rules.
  • Take immediate action based on pre-analyzed data.

Note: Insights are not available to partners.

Insight types

Val provides the following insight types and the following user actions to take direct steps to improve fraud detection and overall security:

Fraud spike
  • Highlights abnormal increases or decreases in fraud for specific networks or sources.
  • Provides a comparative analysis of fraud trends at the app level to better understand whether they are expected or an anomaly.
  • Investigate further in the Protect360 dashboard.
  • Share the insight as a PNG.
  • Dismiss the insight for one week.
Old SDK version Detects apps using SDKs older than one year, which may lack up-to-date fraud protection and be prone to fraud attacks. 
  • Learn more about SDK updates.
  • Share the insight as a PNG.
  • Dismiss the insight for one week.
Fraudulent SDK version Identifies traffic originating from SDK versions, and broken down by app versions, known to have been affected by high fraud rates.

  • Share the insight as a PNG.
  • Dismiss the insight for one week.

How Val works

Each week, Explore Insights analyzes traffic from the prior 7–14 days. It surfaces only the most relevant anomalies and vulnerabilities as insights. Prioritization logic ensures each insight adds value.

Note: Insights are generated weekly on Mondays and cover traffic data from the previous 7–14 days (UTC)

To ensure insights remain relevant, they follow a predefined lifecycle:

Timeframe Behavior
Days 1–7 Insights are shown daily unless dismissed.
Day 8 Insights are removed automatically.
Dismissed Insights won't return unless a new issue is detected.
Note: Once an insight is dismissed, it won’t appear again for the current week.

How to access and use Explore Insights (Val)

  1. To access Explore Insights, click the Explore Insights button at the top right of the Protect360 page.

  3. Click the Take action button to take user action on the insight.
    The actions you can perform are listed in Insight type.
  4. The arrows on the left and right will move you to the next or previous action item.
  5. The widgets below the action item provide information that assists you in making a decision.
